Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) helps ensure that electrical equipment used in the workplace is safe to operate and suitable for continued use. Many electrical incidents are caused by damaged cables, faulty plugs or deterioration through regular handling, particularly on construction sites and in high-use environments.

Our competent inspectors carry out a combination of visual inspection and electrical testing on portable appliances such as tools, extension leads, office equipment and chargers, in line with recognised guidance including IET Code of Practice for In‑Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Each item is assessed, labelled and recorded, with clear documentation provided identifying pass, fail and any remedial actions required. This helps employers maintain safe equipment, plan maintenance, and demonstrate compliance with workplace electrical safety duties.
